India Evangelical Education Trust - Central Savannah River Area

Your support does so much more than you may realize....It is reaching many souls within feet of the front gates of the The India Graduate School of Missiology (IGSM).  IGSM is not only training the missionary trainers, it is also reaching out to the community.  Part of the training that the students receive involves working in the surrounding community to help these people in their own "neighborhood" who are living in abject poverty as well as sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

There is an on-going Community Development Project whose goal is to eliminate poverty, disease, malnutrition and illiteracy through a "Self Help Project."

Components of this project are:

1.  Create a small business providing one job per household.

2.  Education:  Adult literacy, hygienic and nutritional awareness (bringing in social workers and doctors to give seminars) and schools for children.

3.  Toilets:  80 of the 275 families do not have toilets thereby using the open field.

4.  Holding tank for wastewater from washing dishes and clothes.  This area is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and viral infections.

The success of this project will be evident when it is also duplicated in other areas of India where graduated students work.

Byron Phillips of Word Harvest Ministries is working with the Staff and Students of IGSM to get this project off the ground.
